There are so many choices you can make these days of where to say the two of the biggest tiny words in your life – I Do! Whether it be in a church, on a beach or in a beautiful, historic barn, it’s hard to know where to even start.
We know that many couples don’t feel confident to get married abroad at the moment with the current Covid climate, with potential quarantine issues, insecurities regarding flying and general worries as to whether their guests will want to go abroad at the moment.
We have compiled a fantastic list of sensational wedding venues whether you’re looking for the Best in Berkshire or the Coolest in Cornwall. Read on and find your dream location for your perfect ceremony.
Let’s start at the bottom of our beautiful country with the breathtaking and dramatic backdrop of Cornwall. We think the pick of the bunch has to be Polhawn Fort near Torpoint, in their own words:
“Polhawn Fort is a one-off, unique place. It stands alone, quite literally. So if you’re looking for a coastal wedding venue to make your own, you’ve found it. Imagine a home-from-home vibe (if ‘home’ happens to be a Napoleonic fort, complete with drawbridge)! There’s a set of steps leading from the Fort directly down to our very own beach where you can steal a little private time together, frolic in the waves with your wedding guests and catch some very special memories – the sea views from the beach are surreal. Immerse yourselves in the magic of a cliff-top fort in Cornwall, standing tall among sweeping lawns.”
Catering to both inside and outside weddings with celebrations in the Fort or their Summerhouse, stunning sea views and a secluded beach this is the most incredible venue to celebrate your nuptials with your loved ones. With flexible, exclusive hire facilities which can welcome up to 120 guests and can be just as cosy and intimate with a much smaller number as well.
This really is a most wonderfully romantic place to start your new life as a couple, watching the sun go down over the sea, hearing the waves lapping against the shore in the background.
Moving up the country, we come out of the West Country and to what we think is the best wedding venue in Berkshire, Lillibrooke Manor. This sensational exclusive hire venue is steeped in history with its 15th Century Manor, 15 acre sprawling estate, enchanting barns and magical cloistered gardens.
This stunning venue certainly ticks all the boxes for a fairytale ceremony with its hugely flexible layout, in their own words:
“Considered amongst the oldest within the UK, our beautiful Barns are full of character and elegance, not to mention our stately Manor House with its beautiful red brick contrasted against the manicured bright green lawns and bountiful flower beds and shrubs. Our stunning Berkshire wedding venue ticks all the boxes from its cloistered gardens through to the sweeping drive and croquet lawn.
Waltz away under our beautiful fairy lights twinkling in the twilight or gather around our Al-Fresco dining area while taking in the mouth-watering smells of our woodfired pizza oven. At Lillibrooke Manor, the opportunities of how your day will flow are endless and are equally plentiful all year round. Whether it be a “Narnia-esque” Winter Wedding with our beautiful barns enveloping you in warmth and cosiness, firework and sparklers or a Spring or Summer Wedding where you can meander with your guests through the grounds from dining in the barn through to croquet on the lawns.”
This magnificent Estate can host up to 210 of your guests, but is equally cosy and intimate with small ceremonies as well. You will certainly feel as if you are Nobles of the Manor for the day of this opulent Estate with every couple’s dreams coming true at Lillibrooke Manor.
Moving up and West, we transport you to the rolling hills and valleys of Wales. Presenting Gilestone Manor Estate, an historic, stunningly beautiful spot located in the Vale of Glamorgan in South Wales.
This is another top wedding venue with hugely flexible options with their extensive gardens, including a captivating 18th Century Walled Garden. The Estate also has an enchanting Summer House with breathtaking views across the Bristol estuary as you stroll with your loved one across their sweeping front lawns. In their own words:
“The historic Walled Gardens are perfect for arrival drinks allowing guests to mingle amongst the beautiful surroundings, whilst the sweeping front lawns, lake and woodland at the front of the house are also available for arrival drinks and games and photographs. The Summer House attached to the Walled Gardens and Secret Garden is the perfect option for a civil ceremony any time of year, giving you the option of either seating guests outside in the Walled Gardens or under cover in the Secret Garden.
Our unique Folly situated near the marquee has magnificent views across the Bristol estuary and heritage coastline. Guests could either stand or be seated to watch the ceremony and you can decorate the surrounding area and Folly as you wish.”
Carrying our journey North, there were many gasps of awe when we looked at our next pick on our country wide wedding venue tour. If you are looking for something decadent and dramatic then The Monastery Manchester will be your perfect place to say I Do.
With imposing and majestic pillars and sky high ceilings, you will feel like royalty for the day. It is difficult to sum up how incredible this venue is but perhaps this will help:
“There are just a handful of buildings in the world where the feelings of love and peace embrace you as soon as you walk through the door. HRH The Prince of Wales captured that feeling perfectly, when he said: “I find that just being here lifts my spirits and makes me feel that anything is possible.”
The venue is licensed for weddings and civil ceremonies and can welcome up to a staggering 400 of your friends and families to help you celebrate your special day. They also have a beautiful internal walled garden – perfect for photo opportunities or a quiet moment to sit and soak in your day.
And finally, we reach the North. What could be more quintessentially traditional once you cross the Northern border, than to get married in a fairytale castle, drenched in history with stone walls still echoing the centuries of festivities and weddings in times gone by.
There is no other best wedding venue than we can think of than Neidpath Castle, a rare example of a fortified tower house with the castle being founded in 1190 by Sir Gilbert Fraser. This enchanting castle located on the banks of the River Tweed has exceptional views and is the epitome of romanticism, as they state on their website:
“The true beauty of Neidpath is that very little has changed over the years. The rugged stone walls, hidden staircases, and beautiful views from the battlements would all be very familiar to its formers residents. Outside, the ancestral emblems are clear to see in the archways and carvings around the castle. Inside, the burnished wooden floors bear the indents from the spurs of the gentlemen’s boots.”
This magnificent castle finishes our list of best wedding venues in the UK. If you’d like further recommendations or have any questions, please contact us and we’ll be happy to help.
