This elegant 17th Century civic masterpiece takes pride of place in the
heart of Royal Windsor. Built between 1687 and 1689, the ornate structure
was designed by Sir Thomas Fitch and completed after his death by the
renowned architect Sir Christopher Wren, famous for his work on numerous
civic landmarks such as St. Paul's Cathedral in London.
Today Windsor Guildhall and Registry Office is famous for its many celebrity
weddings (Sir Elton John and David Furness celebrated their civil
partnership here) and even Royal weddings (Prince Charles married Camilla
Parker-Bowles here in a private civil ceremony). You too can now book this
fabulous venue to create your own glamorous event.
Set just a short stroll from Windsor Castle, the green spaces and dramatic
medieval walls of this royal palace provide a stunning backdrop for your
wedding/commemorative photos. The fine artwork and opulent interiors,
together with the highly decorative facade of the Guildhall itself offers a
unique environment for your special day or evening celebration.
The Guildhall Chamber accommodates up to 100 guests for wedding ceremonies,
but is also suitable for smaller parties and corporate events. The Chamber is available for wedding ceremonies on Fridays and Saturdays with hourly appointments starting at 11am until the latest at 4pm. Sundays are also available, subject to agreement with the Registrar. The smaller Ascot Room is also available to hire for weddings and corporate events and is the usual choice for more intimate civil ceremonies. Residents of the Royal Borough of Windsor, civic organisations and charities may also be eligible for a discount on published hire charges.
The Chamber
The Chamber is a large gilded space with vaulted ceiling, impressive oil
painting and sparkling chandeliers. This is where Windsor's councillors and
royal advisors have met for centuries to conduct their business, dance at
glittering balls and feast on sumptuous banquets. With more than 120sqm. of
floor space and 5.50m high ceilings the truly grand scale of this room is
fit for a Princess on her wedding day or the most prestigious corporate
event, providing theatre style seating for up to 100 guests or dinner for 120.
The Ascot Room
The Ascot Room is usually the venue of choice for civil ceremonies at
Windsor Guildhall. This is partly due to the slightly more formal feel of
the room and its size. At 52sqm. the Ascot Room creates an intimate
atmosphere for civil ceremonies hosting up to 60 guests, board meetings or
smaller corporate events.
